The day in which the game is played is known in the U.S. as national holiday and it is also known by its name Super Bowl Sunday. Aside from Thanksgiving, Super Bowl Sunday is the largest food consumption day for Americans and the variety of foods range from hot dogs to all types of junk foods and from juice ales to beer as beverages. It is, by far, the most popular of all sporting event in America and TV networks are crawling and competing with each other to get the exclusive broadcast rights to air Super Bowl 44 live and direct from where the action is!

Actually, there were two leagues in the past- the NFL (National Football League) and AFL (American Football League). But there was a time when they formed a merger in an agreement. It was in the year 1967, Jan. 15 when the NFL Super Bowl was played for the first time in America. But how did the Super Bowl got its name?

It was actually named by Lamar Hunt, the founder of the AFL.The name Super Bowl came in his mind when he saw his kids playing with the super ball. Each game is separately identified in Super Bowl. To identify each Super Bowl game, roman numerals are used.
